Paint On Clay - How It Works
A daily workshop based in the Giant’s Cup Cafe and Craft’s building, available every day of the week between 9 am and 5 pm and designed for families, groups, birthdays, wedding anniversaries, book clubs, school groups and as art therapy.
Simply select pieces of ceramic pottery that have been handmade by Simone on her potters wheel, choose your colours of underglaze and settle down to enjoy the space and time that has been carved out for you to tap into your creative inner. Many people are unaware that they have a creative side or they are filled with self doubt.
Art therapy is not about self-judgement. It fulfils an essential need for creative expression to mitigate against the mental and physical energy-sapping demands of this crazy fast paced world. Enjoy sitting indoors or in the garden. The restaurant offers food and drink to satiate your thirst or hunger whilst you paint.
Your painted pieces will be fired to harden your paint, then dipped in transparent glaze and refired at a high temperature afterwards, to make functional and durable stoneware gifts for that special person in your life.
It is advisable for groups to book ahead with Simone.

The Giant’s Cup Cafe and Crafts is located on Stromness Farm in the Southern Drakensberg 10.5 km along the Sani Pass road; 14 km from Himeville; and 19 km from Underberg.
Our hand milked Jersey cows provide milk for making our dairy produce: cheese, butter, cream cheese, feta, halloumi, and icecream.
Our menu offers: cheesecake baked using our own farm cream cheese; a cheese platter of our cheeses; halloumi wrap; and feta cheese salad in addition to our giant size beef burger in our baked rolls and lots more options!
The bar offers craft beer, wine, cider and our unique cocktails. The shop displays a wide variety of handcrafts sourced locally.
Milking of cows and feeding bottles to calves may be watched morning and afternoon. There is a family nature trail with illustrated booklet available.
